My dad got us awesome tickets to the ODU basketball game against Northeastern. We had club level seats and Big Blue Room passes. We hit up Doumar’s (of course) and got our BBQ fix, then headed to the BB Room for sodas before going to our seats. Our section was mostly empty, so we had plenty of room to let him wiggle around in. He liked pulling up on the bar in the front row (he’s a strong little kiddo!) and every time the band played, he stopped and stared. (That’s my boy!)
Auntie Felicia came over to see us, and she “stole” him to show to her fellow Ted employees. They all knew exactly who he was; apparently, she talks about him a lot. =) She took us downstairs and we got big pretzels, then headed back up to our section for a few before she headed back to her area for work. What a fun treat to see her! Of course, Brandon was paying attention to the game. He tried teaching Caleb the finer points of basketball. I, on the other hand, was relishing in sharing another athletic experience at my alma mater with my son. It’s pretty surreal to remember that as a student senator, I took a hardhat tour of the Ted in its earliest stages…and here we were, ten years later, sitting in the Ted for a game with my son. Amazing how life changes!
The game was over before 9, although we left early. Caleb managed to hold on through the game, but as soon as we got to the truck, he was out like a light.
The game was fun, and it was another one of those “Ferris Bueller” moments where you have to stop and look around before life passes you by. Who knows…one day, we might be sitting in the seats cheering on Caleb as he plays!
